Daddy’s Hands (A Poem for Daddy)

Daddy’s hands are so big, they look like wings!

Daddy’s hands can do lots of things.

I watch the things I see my Daddy do.

I pay close attention so that my hands can do them, too.

Mommy says, “Your father is quite a man!”

So, when I’m scared, I look for Daddy’s hands.

“Nailah, my love … ,” my Daddy will say.

And I know his hands aren’t far away.

My Daddy’s hands are really strong!

He’s strong but gentle.

And in my eyes, he can do no wrong.

If I hurt, Daddy runs to me when I call.

Daddy’s hands are there to scoop me up when I fall.

I know my Daddy’s hands are how God must be.

Because Daddy says, “I do for you what God does for me.”
