At Times, I Think ...
At times, I sit and think about the time that’s gone by,
My heart feels a jolt and then I breathe a heavy sigh!
At times, I think why me?
Then my heart answers, ‘as that’s what was meant to be!’
At times, I wonder, will I move on?
“For sure!” says my heart, ‘just prod along!’
‘You’re doing great, please don’t stop!’
‘No more downhill from here, it’s just a tough way before you reach the top!’
At times, I feel luckier than many,
Then why is it that I have so many thoughts: Uncanny?
To which I get answered, “An uncanny thought can always be changed”.
But to see within yourself, only gives you perspective, while being gauged.
Gauged by others! Why should I care?
My mind answers slowly, “You can’t live without societal norms, even if you dare!”
At times, I think what norms are these?
They don’t give you anything; all they do is cease!
Again, I hear my heart say, “They might not give, but they have to be followed”
“Even if that means, one’s pride has to be swallowed”.
At times, I wonder how false the world around me has become.
And, then again I think, the worst is yet to come.
Will the time of goodness ever return?
Or will man continue to stand in a queue waiting for his turn.
His turn to show, how good and righteous he is,
When in reality he is a cheat and all he is looking for is personal bliss.
At times, I wonder does anyone really care for you.
My heart answers, “It’s all a put-on act by others, none of it is true”.
Then to myself, I think, why does one need to act?
My heart replies, “As that’s their tact!”
A tact that can fool you,
Make you think they’re nice and then cheat you.
Back-biting, cheating, cut-throat competition is the way of the world today,
No wonder, at times I think, when will it be my day,
The day, I can show goodness still prevails,
It is there and in my heart it hails.
At times, I wonder when will I break-free,
Break away from this dual act and just be carefree,
Carefree enough to speak my mind,
And, look out for happiness, as ultimately that’s all I really want to find!
At times, I think how will it be?
Guess what, I will just have to wait and watch to see.
