Imperfect World
We live through our wishful thinking.
We hide behind our dreams.
Always wanting to fulfill a destiny.
It keeps us going and trying to accomplish so many things.
You’re tired of disappointment.
You’re wishing that your dreams would all one day come true.
There are stumbling blocks and obstacles getting in your way;
As you fight harder and harder to get what you want and need each day.
The world that we live in, at times can be questionable.
In our hearts, the place we hold so dear.
We have questions, but are there any answers?
For we have waited so long to hear.
It’s like trying to reach for something that seems so close.
But you’re moving in slow motion.
Reaching out and trying to grab it, but missed by the tip of your nose.
It’s miserable not knowing what each day will bring.
Waiting to see what the outcome will be.
Waiting for that song bird to sing;
About the things you’ve been wanting and more.
The change you need in your life.
Your mind is constantly racing.
More than ever before.
You’re sick and tired of working so hard.
Working your fingers to the bones.
Living paycheck to paycheck.
Seeing others like yourself.
The low income people which are…
The majority of the minority are struggling each day.
So you’re not alone.
The rich and famous are living on cloud nine.
While the more unfortunate hard working people are nickel and diming.
The place that we reside,
Should be a comfortable place for all.
No matter how large of a pocket you have.
No matter how large or small.
Why is it so easy for some and so hard for others,
Just to make it in this place?
The answer to that question is such a slap in the face.
The people that live in this place are holding some of us back.
There are limitations, vetoes and blocks.
Can’t move forward and just standing still;
Almost like you’re behind a door of chains and locks.
Our president is trying hard to break down the barriers,
To make it an easier place to live.
We as the minority have something to give…..
Our vote, to make change.
Obama is his name.
Vote today, to smooth out some of the curls.
Obama will help to mend some of the problems in this imperfect world.
