iPad3If you are a gadget enthusiast and follow the launch of every tablet and smart phone closely, you may have been having a tough time deciding whether or not the new 3rd generation iPad or “iPad 3” is worth buying.  Today we will tell you some of the features that are a definite improvement in the iPad 3 over its predecessors.  Perhaps, by the time you read this article, you will be able to make a decision on whether or not the iPad 3 is worth buying.

Sharper Images and Crisper Text

There are three main features that we have found interesting in the new iPad 3 that we think makes it worth the upgrade. Firstly, in this new iPad you will find what is called the “Retina Display”.  The retina display is responsible for delivering 2048x1536 resolution, with a brilliant 263 pixels per inch.  To explain it “layman’s terms”, this simply means that you get images and text that is far more sharp and crisp.  In fact, the iPad3 has approximately four times more pixels than the iPad 2.  We are talking photo quality here.  If you own an iPhone 4S, you may have experienced this difference already.  It’s not just in the images; you will notice the difference in the quality of the text as well.  Be it an e-book you are reading or generally just checking mail, the difference is remarkable.  Thanks to this retina display you will be able to enjoy movies and games in HD quality.  In a nutshell, if you are hung up on display quality, the Retina Display in the new iPad 3 certainly makes it worth the upgrade.

If you are a photography enthusiast and are interested in taking pictures with your tablet, the iPad 3 will not disappoint you.  The iPad 3 boasts what the manufacturers are calling the iSight, a 5 mega pixel camera that not only has a lens that is improved but also shares a sensor with the iPhone 4S, which undoubtedly provides sharper pictures than the iPhone 3.

Great Connection Speed and an Improved Gaming Experience

If speed is what you are interested in, the new iPad 3 offers the option of connecting to any available 4G LTE network, a connection speed that is much faster than 3G.  The connection speed of 4G LTE will come in handy if you upload or download huge files, need to connect to your desktop automatically or watch videos while you are on the go.  However, this higher speed is being made available for an additional price.  The 4G LTE iPad costs about $130 more than the base model, but if speed is a must have criterion for you, it is worth paying a little more.  In the US, the iPad 3 retails for $499 for the 16GB (storage capacity) version.  The iPad 3 also comes in a 32GB and 64GB flavor, which go for $599 and $699 respectively.  Only AT&T and Verizon carry the 4G LTE models of the new iPad.  The price ranges accordingly:  16GB ($629); 32GB ($729); and 64GB ($829).

If you are an avid gamer, the iPad 3 is a fabulous machine to have at your fingertips.  With the Retina Display, the iPad 3’s quad core graphics card combined with the new Apple A5X processor makes this hand-held a really powerful machine for gaming.  The HD quality that you get while playing epic games is simply thrilling, to say the least.  For those of you who have been looking forward to games such as Infinity Blade, Dungeons and W.E.L.D.E.R., you will certainly not be disappointed.

That having been said about the iPad 3, if you are a basic tablet user and all you want to do on your tablet is play some games, use FaceTime once in a while and read e-Books, the iPad 2 serves your purpose just fine.  Do not spend that extra cash in upgrading your tablet.  If you are a first-time buyer who does not have the need for advanced usage, the iPad 2 is a great option and is available for $399.  On the other hand, if the latest gadget is the only thing that will please you, go right ahead and buy the iPad 3.  It will definitely not disappoint!
